Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: 23 July 2026

This site earns money from affiliate links. Given that we spend our time telling you which brands overcharge you, you are entitled to know exactly how that works.

The short version

Some links to products on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we receive a small commission from the retailer. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.

We participate in affiliate programmes operated by major online retailers. Where a programme requires its own specific disclosure wording, that wording appears in the articles concerned.

What commission does not buy

It does not buy a verdict. No brand pays for placement, for a recommendation, or for a critical passage to be removed. We have never accepted payment in exchange for a rating, and if that ever changes, this page changes with it.

The obvious conflict is worth naming plainly: commission is a percentage of sale price, so an expensive tool pays us more than a cheap one. Our entire editorial position is that the expensive tool is usually not worth it. We resolve that by recommending the cheapest product that clears the bar, and by linking to it whether or not it carries a commission. If the honest answer is “keep the one you own and buy nothing,” that is the answer we publish.

How products are chosen

Products are selected for coverage because they are widely bought, heavily marketed, or frequently asked about — never because a programme pays well. Availability of an affiliate link plays no part in whether a product is covered or how it is rated.

Prices

Prices quoted in articles are correct at the time of writing and change constantly. Always check the current price at the retailer before buying. We are not responsible for pricing on third-party sites.

Marking

Affiliate links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute, and articles containing them state so near the top. If you would rather not use them, search for the product name at any retailer directly — the recommendation is identical either way.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you believe a piece of coverage reads as though it were bought, say so — use the contact details published on this site and we will answer.
